I'd like to thank you all for 4,000 downloads on Itch!

I'm still surprised how this nearly 5-year-old game still gets almost daily downloads! To this day, it remains my most downloaded and most rated game, and currently, the one with the largest wordcount!

Now I'd like to address a few things, since I might as well since I'm making a devlog post---

The Fate of "The Only One Girl"

For now, I'm putting what would have been the full project on an indefinite hiatus. I don't know if I will ever be able to finish it, due to how terribly large the scope was, and I have many other important WiPs I have to focus on now. But I am also not gonna say "cancelled" just yet because you never know... I may pick it up again in the future. As you may have noticed, I changed the bold message on the front page a little to have said "what would have been" referring to the full game, and that this version is fully functional with its own set of endings. Because of that, I have also finally set this project to "Released", since the full version would've gotten its own game page anyway.

Will there still be an update to 1stQ?

Again, that is up in the air. There are a few fixes I'd like to implement and possibly extend a few scenes. But as of now, I cannot make any promises. If it does get an update, definitely a technical update is in order at some point. 

The Mac version not working for some

It's been brought to my attention in the comments that the game no longer works for some Mac users. I am assuming they probably have a newer Mac OS. I had learned not long ago that Macs are not very backwards compatible? So a lot of the all-distribute versions of Ren'Py games no longer work. The good news, though, is I have found if I release a Mac-only build, this usually solves the problem. I had a similar issue when I released "Since When Did I Have a Combat Butler?!" and when I made a Mac-only build, that seemed to solve the problem.

So... this leads back to the statement above about an update for 1stQ. Because of this, I have not taken it off the table of updating. Whilst I'd really like to have extended scenes, I may only be able to do technical updates. The reason I cannot re-export the current version with a Mac only is the version of the project I had backed up was the 0.5 (beta) release, and since then I had added other updates (like Kinetic mode). So if I do release a Mac-only version, I will have to re-release it for all platforms, and it will include those few new updates, but it also means I have to proofread the script again since 1.0 had many fixes. But it could definitely due for another proofreading since there were still mistakes in 1.0's script anyway.

When I've cleared a lot of to-do stuff for my current WiPs, I'll be looking into getting this technical fix out. It'll be a simple V1.1 update.

Conclusion

I'm pretty sure such news was not what one would expect from celebrating a 4k milestone, but I also want to be honest. This game does still mean a lot to me and I'm happy for its mostly positive reception. But to complete it would be a huge undertaking and I already have a lot on my plate right now. That is why for now the game is on an indefinite hiatus.

Again I want to say thank you to everyone that showed love toward this game! Making it was a lot of fun. I learned a lot from it. And you never know... whether voiced or unvoiced, I may pick up the full game again... after all, I rescued an even older project of mine from development hell due for release next year... so anything is possible!
